Redesigned Purolator

I picked up a L10111 (I believe that was the part number - equivalent to ACDelco PF47) and used it for my most recent oil change. I almost went with an AC, until I looked inside the Purolator. The base plates holes (or oval shaped slots) are slightly larger than before. The interior tube is also has slightly fewer holes, but the holes are much bigger than the tiny holes in previous "model" purolator. The holes are now also in a spiral pattern whereas before they were seemingly randomly arranged.

Here's another change on a different filter I've been using. L20253 is originally for the ZR-1 Corvette engine, but it fits for my '89 Mazda MX-6 GT as an oversize option. The change is that the bypass used to be on the threaded end, but is now at the other end.

Keith, the purolator that I purchased recently has a center tube that looks closer to the PurONE you posted a link to. The filter I purchased however, appeared to have even larger holes (approximately double the size) in the PurOne on that page and the holes are arranged in a spiral pattern.

Some of my regular purolators seem to have different hole patterns. My guess is that the center tube is the only change.
