Red Line Oil throwing codes on BMW

i used 5- 30 redline. mostly long trips. when it first started the fault would go away after about 30 mins of driving, then it just stayed on all the time.

many of my trips are over 80 miles. (thats why i bought this car)

What else kind of scares me is the BMW oil measuring display. You can scroll through it in your info display, but it will only display the level of its last "long count" oil level analysis. I can change oil and leave it 2 quarts down and it will read OK until the customer completes a cycle where the car can measure the oil. Only by going through the computer and holding the BC to reset it can you activate the "short count" to get a quicker reading. Often it will display ADD 1 QUART, I usually play it safe and put 6.5 in before checking.

Seriously though, what an awful design.

I have it on good authority (the elves who make oreos) that grey poupon is equivalent to 5w 30 in an alternate universe, but a VERY NEARBY UNIVERSE!

I wondered if anyone would get the Grey Poupon reference, since it was many years ago when they ran those commercials with the fat cats riding in Rolls Royces asking for it.. etc.
