If you're interested (I was). Here is a Red Line email to me I just got:

"Thank you for contacting Red Line Oil, yes moly is an important part of our additive package, the 5W30 contains 950 ppm."

As a user of your 5w30 street oil, I am aware of your generous levels of ZDDP, and is one of the many reasons I use and swear by your oils. But, may I ask if Moly is part of your additive package, and if so, at what concentration? Thanks

That's a hearty dollop. What I like about Redline is that they don't screw around perpetually cutting corners for a cheaper blend.

Glad to see they still give us what we want. They do a good job at letting the consumer know what they are paying for and it isn't a starburst symbol LOL!

That's why you have choice to pay nearly $10 for a single qt or $5 AR for a whole gallon...actually 1.25gal.

That is a company I respect. No smoke screens, bells and whistles, or some B-S about proprietary information. They answer the question, good on them!

I wonder where they get their base oils, and also how strong their detergent pkg is (for example, can it be run extended drain interval, or is it like VR1 whereas it has a great ant-wear pkg, but not so great detergency?)

Also, I would be curious to see someone like RP go up against Redline in a torchure test

Check out RL new web site; they state over and over their oils contain "high detergency." Additionally, they state their street oils are good 15 to 18k, with appropriate filter changes.

Redline is in a class by itself,their group 5 basestock,RP is group4 .

My opinion is that RP is mostly hype, hence the dyed purple color for marketing purposes.

RP would get trounced!

Notice British petroleum has not bothered Redline as far as outlandish claims go. Poor RP! Apples and oranges really.
