Roy Howell is on now.

He answered my question: "Once you purchase the additive package from a supplier, and blend the oil with the base oils of your choice (POE/PAO etc.), how do you test whether the finished and "modified" oil will pass many of the tests that are designed to show proof of performance such as the Seq IVA, IIIH, Seq X (chain wear) etc.? Also, Red Line tends to show higher wear metals in UOA's, often after several consecutive runs. Is this a concern at all?"

His answer was they buy additives from the supplier that have done testing. They then do their own bench testing, dyno testing and field testing.

For development, they aim for the lowest friction and lowest wear. Roy said they are very big believers in molybdenum. Superior additive he said.
