There is no good/bad it's just a value that allows you to see the change in oxidation. Higher oxidation values indicate the oil has an ester component. Will do next time. What is a good virgin oxidation value? Thank you

I see. Next time when I change my oil, I will take virgin sample from that same oil and see how much it changes in 6 months and 5,000 miles. There is no good/bad it's just a value that allows you to see the change in oxidation. Higher oxidation values indicate the oil has an ester component.
That's better than Blackstone. Thank you.Around $35 or so I think.
Just spend some time in the VOA and UOA forum and taking in the comments/debate. But keep in mind, a $30 UOA or VOA can only tell you so much. A UOA, in particular, is best used for establishing trends in wear data....using the same oil and labs. A great example of a quite unimpressive VOA is that of Valvoline Restore & Protect which in the real world in many engines, has performed unheard of levels of cleaning of piston rings. That's better than Blackstone. Thank you.

Welcome. Red Line told me on the phone that I should use 0W-20.Thanks. The 0w30 should look similar being it's also an LSPI friendly grade. I'd like to see the oxidation value as well.
Ester is mentioned on the bottle. There is no good/bad it's just a value that allows you to see the change in oxidation. Higher oxidation values indicate the oil has an ester component.
How do those values match my VOA? Thank you.
Hey, I was very impatient and couldn't wait. I sent a virgin sample to Oil Analyzers. But on the form that I filled, there was no choice of asking for Oxidation. Do they run that test by default? Thank you.Thanks. The 0w30 should look similar being it's also an LSPI friendly grade. I'd like to see the oxidation value as well.
Yeah they always give you oxidation value.Hey, I was very impatient and couldn't wait. I sent a virgin sample to Oil Analyzers. But on the form that I filled, there was no choice of asking for Oxidation. Do they run that test by default? Thank you.
What value do you expect/guess? Thank you.Yeah they always give you oxidation value.![]()
Oils with a high virgin nitration typically have a high(er) Ester content....that's part of the oil that does the cleaning. There is no "right" value......you typically don't want to see a large change from the virgin oxidation number to the UOA oxidation number. What value do you expect/guess? Thank you.
I see. The report should come by the end of next week. I will post here to get educated. And I will send a used sample in first week of November regardless of number of miles. I am not exactly sure how many miles I will have but they will definitely be some hard and hot miles. I am driving to Moab, CO's Black Bear Pass and back to Seattle.Oils with a high virgin nitration typically have a high(er) Ester content....that's part of the oil that does the cleaning. I just came to know that their 5W-20 is even more awesome. Less VII so less shearing, and HTHS of 3.1 on top of that. Now I am considering switching to this. I am not sure what I will do if I need warranty work.Yeah they always give you oxidation value.![]()
They just emailed me the reportYeah they always give you oxidation value.![]()
Very nice! Very high virgin oxidation from a lot of ester!!They just emailed me the reportHow does the Oxidation value look?
Some numbers are different from Blackstone
