Reconditioning Costs

Had one come through our shop.
Suspension components are expensive, knuckles and struts tend to go. Easy to spend $3000 just on those.
Typically brakes and tires are needed at $1500 - $1800, full rates.

Dealer probably gave $5,000 as trade and looking to make a home run from people that go gaga over low mileage. Why are you looking for 12 year old cars at dealers? Better deals on Craigslist or Ebay.

The service dept is given a budget to recon a trade in . If the estimate goes over that, they wholesale the car at auction.

That price seems very high for a 12 year old vehicle. I think the Lincoln MKS is about the same as a glorified Ford Fusion. The cheapest car you can buy is the car you pay the MOST MONEY FOR. In other words buy a gem and don't spend money aimlessly to put lipstick on a pig. Post a picture of the road dog if you get the chance.
