I'm looking to replace the wheels on my 2015 Ford Fusion with a different style of OEM wheel. Unfortunately the wheel is no longer manufactured and is only available used. I haven't found any pristine examples except "reconditioned" wheels that are available for purchase. I'm concerned about the safety and quality of these wheels as I've never owned a repaired wheel. I've found two companies that offer a lifetime warranty on the structural integrity and cosmetic finish of the wheel, Wheels America and The Wheelership. The Wheelership claims to get its wheels from the only SAE J2530 certified reconditioner in the US. Any advice or insight is greatly appreciated.

$170-$184 per wheel? How bad could yours possibly be? I mean those ones aren't even good looking wheels IMO...

bdcardinal works at a ford parts counter; maybe your dealer is incompetent.

Id be somewhat concerned. Generally what happens is that damage is welded over, the whe is painted, paint is machined off, then the wheel is clear powdercoated. Obviously straight silver wherls are slightly different.

Its the damage repair, and qc/qa that concerns me. Also, the machining does remove a few mils of material, which does notionally reduce strength.

This.

Maybe bdcardinal can have them shipped to your nearest Ford dealership?

There are mfgr's part numbers....and that's good.
There are junk yard year, make and model searches....and that's good too.
The rest of the industry uses Hollander (sp?) numbers and seemed incapable of understanding anything else.

CONCLUSION: Could the Hollander # expedite your search?

I gathered this from searching for common Ford and Subaru steel wheels THEN dealing with having 17" Saab wheels refurbed.

Sounds like your dealer doesn't want your business. The shipping on wheels would kill any deal I could do on them. Plus there is a $50 core per wheel you would have to figure out.

I have a guy I can meet any day of the week as he rotates among several local high end dealers. He has a huge trailer with almost anything you need to straighten and align bent wheels right there.

Cheap, too...
