I recently purchased a 2012 MazdaSpeed 3. It, of course, has a turbocharged 2.3L I-4 motor. I drive the car as my commuter and travel vehicle. I do NOT race or autocross. Other than the occassional sprint past 100+ mph or highway merging, the engine will see mostly light duty.
I have used Mobil 1 full-synthetic (in whatever weight the manufacturer called for) in every car I've owned for the past 10 years and never had a problem. In fact, I've been nothing but impressed with Mobil 1.
However, I'm still open to using a better product. Do any of you have a recommendation for something that may work better than the Mobil 1 for this motor (keeping in mind that it has a turbocharger)? The manufacturer calls for 5w30 to be used. Would any of you go to a higher viscosity? Or just keep it the same? Any other tips are also welcome. This is my first turbocharged motor.
I have one more question: does anyone know what they put in the Speed3 from the dealer? My car only has 500 miles on it (thinking about doing the first oil change at 1000 miles).
Thanks in advance, ya'll. Cheers.
