Lubegard red has some benefits when added to mineral based fluids or lesser quality synthetic fluids but any good atf like Maxlife, Amsoil, or even DexronVI don't need any additives.

No, do not use lubegard Platinum in anything. This is a bad product.
That's over the top. Lubegard has been proven time and again, so I'll stick with their suggestion that Platinum can convert ATF and/or enhance OEM fluid.
I went with the Amsoil signature series ATF. Put on the Mazda pan with drain plug with a new filter. Trans took a bit less than 4 quarts. As of 600 miles or so the occasional 3-4 flare hasn't returned. In about a month I'll do a drain and fill to get as much Amsoil in the system as possible. Thanks for all of your advice!
