I have a 2001 Nissan sentra SE 2.0 with a viscous type LSD. The car has a 100,000 miles on the stock oem gear oil. I want to change it, the car calls for a 75w90. Nissan didn't event stock gear oil for my car only 75w85 synthetic which they use in 350z and didnt even know or have or was able to get me OEM fluid for my car. I'm just a little skpetical of going with some of these synthetics. I hear so many stories of grinds occuring and certain synthetics causing harms to the seals and the brass in the tranny. Should i go with the traditional dyno or synthetic and what brands do you guys recommend. Thanks

I'd use the Synthetic with no problems. Make sure to use the correct fluid type (GL-4, GL-5). Amsoil Severe Gear is good fluid.

My car calls for a gl-4. I might just go with the Redline MT-90. Hopefully all goes well. Has anyone had any experience with the MT-90 on a sentra transmission?

Does anyone happen to know if nissan still sell 75w90 gl-4 gear oil?

When I had an '03 Altima 3.5SE 5-Speed Manual, I've used the full synthetic gear oil from Specialty Formulations. The vehicle shifted well with that fluid.

I remember some people mixed RedLine Mt-90 with MTL to get the correct weight for Nissan/Infiniti vehicles.

Castrol SynTorq is another option. Why don't you try Amsoil gear oil. Everyone seems very happy with their products including me who is running Amsoil Severe Gear Oil in my differential.

The Nissan dealers carry Nissan MTF 75W85 GL4 in quarts.
