75W85 GL4 vs 75W85 GL4/GL5 vs 75w90 GL4

Didn't see this thread until this morning.

Personally I use either Fuchs Sintofluid 75w80 or Millers Oils MTF 75w80 in most manual gearboxes. I think they both do 75w85 and 75w90 variations. I personally feel like Millers Oils MTF's give a slicker shift, but it's hard to gauge because I've never done a back to back with fresh fluid.
I went with Redline MT85 on the advice of multiple people here and I can only say :
- That Gearbox feels MULTIPLE LEVELS DIFFERENT, it's noticeably smoother even on cold ( 3°C mornings) and the car seems to shift a lot better ( I had a problem with the rear gear which is gone with the Redline).

Redline is truly super oil, very satisfied with it and deserves each penny.

As of Fuchs and Millers oils they are rare in here, haven't seen a shop delivering to france or germany having it on sale. As rare as amsoil I would say.

Considering Fuchs is a German company, I'm very shocked it's rare in Germany or France! It's not on the shelves in shops here, but can easily be found online.

Glad Redline is working well for you! I can't justify paying £30/litre verses >£10/litre for other oils with the same specifications.

Yeah, all I find arround in FUCHS are SINTOPOID FE or LS which I would'nt put in the gearbox ( FE being GL5 only so no bueno) and LS being GL4/GL5 but with LS additives which are known to cause problems in GL4 only gearboxes from what I read arround including here.

Redline is expensive but it can be had during sales for lreasonably-ich prices ( I got 2 quarts for 24E/quart during the halloween sale) still expensive I know compared to mannol semi 7E/l or even petronas Matryx 14€/l but I'm thinking i won't be changing the oil before a long time so hopefully it gets amortized with time.

How much difference would 5 make?
apparently it's not the same as "Engine oil".

People actually shared their expereinces noticing heavier sluggish-ier shifts going from 75w85 to 75w90 especially in cold climates.
the difference in hot climates might be not very noticeable...
