Recommendation for 700whp B5 S4?

I have a troublesome B5 S4 that may be running again sometime soon and I was wondering what my best bet for oil would be?

The engine has been bored/stroked to 3.0L running a single EFR8374 on e85, revving to 8500rpm.

I had been running Motul 300V 5w-40 but I'm not sure this is the best oil considering the ethanol?

This has only seen street use, so far, but I'm a child and it was hitting the rev limiter pretty much every time I drove it 😅

I would, of course, love to track it if it's ever operational long enough. But I had been primarily using it on my hour long commute.

I'd like to stick to something available from FCP, due to the lifetime replacement but if Castrol Edge or something simple is adequate I think I can swing the cost lol

Thanks in advance!

FCP Euro is going to limit your choices drastically.

What type of oil change schedule are you looking to run?

It doesn't have to be from FCP, that would just be a plus.

I'd prefer to not go lower than 3k miles. If it can ever be reasonably reliable I'd be putting 500 miles per week on it, in fair weather.

New 300V is more alcohol friendly, but I would stick to something without Ester.
HPL BAS is good for those kind of engines. Or you can go something 5W50.
But HPL BAS, is racing oil and streetable. If you don’t mind price, it would be my first choice.

That's some pricey oil lol I'd be cool with it but maybe I'll wait until I see how my oil consumption is first 😅

It's been off the road awhile because the consumption was pretty wild but hopefully that will be sorted shortly 🤞

Mobil 1 0w40 all day and twice on sundays

Is it that good? I've seen that it seems to be held in high regard here. I really don't know what my biggest concerns should be regarding oil choice. Ethanol dilution and high rpms I guess? I've never seen temps any higher than normal but I also haven't pushed the car for any extended period. Mostly just rip through a few gears here and there.

Yep, meets a lot of high performance approvals including Porsche

Mobil 0w40, HPL supercar. Fcp euro has liqui moly 0w40 (assuming you are using lifetime oil replacement) it would probably be as much as mobil 0w40. At 3k intervals any A40 approval should hold up just fine. Do a used oil analysis and see how it's looking after 2500 miles regardless of oil used

Thanks for the advice, I'll keep the recommendations in mind! I'm leaning towards the LiquiMoly for the lifetime replacement.

I've used Molygen 5w-40 in my f10 550i for years. Ten quarts and a filter only costs me ~25 bucks to ship back.

I want my S4 to hit 700HP. Though, I need a lot of work before that not to mention a 6spd swap and I'm not sure about going with e85.

Good luck, mate. Might be challenging sticking with 93. I'd highly recommend keeping it as simple as possible.

Mine is bored and stroked to 3L, rockcandy girdle, built 2.8 heads with oversized valves... The works. Single EFR 8374.

All in all it's been a bad time, one issue after another. If I could go back in time there's a zero percent chance I'd sink so much into this pos 😂

Yeah, that's what a shop told me before just wanting to fix what was broken; not including upgrading considering mine is almost 25 years old and 99,800 miles. But when I looked at the list of what was wrong with it, I think a lot of it was BS. For instance, they told me my tires were so shot you could see the bands. You absolutely can NOT see the bands. I would keep it more simple. Bigger turbos, supporting mods, trans swap. I already have a stage 2+ but kids put a damper on fixing it. And now, saving for a bigger house takes priority.

I feel that. Kids is why mine has lived on jack stands for four years now. It was a mad dash to get it finished before the first but it was out of commission shortly after. Now I have two kids really have no time.

I just happened to be lucky enough to have my workplace burn down and now I've ended up with a long paid vacation so I have a bit of free time lol

I have no recommendations but just wanted to post how jealous I am of the B5 S4.

I'm pretty jealous of all the ones that run every once in a while lol

Here it is though

Thanks! I had a black f21 car previously but always wanted a nogaro. Ended up finding this shell with the blue alcantara interior like nine hours away. $1000 for the shell and shipping was pretty reasonable.

It was all covered in moss and stuff lol but it cleaned up so nicely.

Are these things a nightmare to maintain? I've always admired Audis...From a distance. Their reliability has always been infamous.
