I make a lot of VoIP calls through Microsoft Lync, Google Talk, and Skype. Sometimes I use the laptop's built-in mic, and sometimes I just use headphones.

I'd like to just use a USB headset to improve the sound quality and isolate the background noise.

Can anyone recommend a moderately-priced headset? It must be USB and ideally $50ish, though I will spend a tad more if it's a particularly good one. I prefer the single-ear versions so I can still hear some ambient noise.

There's nothing like wireless.

I skype to Finland a lot and love being able to walk around the house.

I hate Wires

I have a set of those and they are great.

can find them for about 75$ on sale usually.

Nice, but those are a bit bulky. Can't really throw those in my briefcase. I'd be worried about breaking them.

In general I don't really want wireless ones because they'd need batteries and be heavier.

They are bulky, but very good. They are very sturdy, unlikely you'd break them. Also, they have a built in rechargable battery (micro USB charging port, same as all phones but apple), and they aren't any heavier than the non-wireless version.
