I have long been considering one of these or a TA cover for my Camaro - hoping it might prolong the life of my rearend. Are these really beneficial to the structural support of the rear at all - or is it a waste of money? Patman?

It couldnt hurt but its not going to help that much either. The gears themselves are just too weak/small to put up with any real abuse.

IMO unless you drag race with sticky tires I would save your money. Street tires will spin long before you put enough load on the rearend to break them.

These do work! I know a lot of guys with Mustangs and F-bodies who have used the TA rear end cover and it definitely helps keep the rear ends alive longer. Especially the weak rear in the f-body! It's cheap insurance for sure. I should get one for mine, although I'm not at the power level yet to really need one (not with a stock LT1 anyways)
