Uh, correction, the Amsoil SVG had the lowest KRL in your tests. Or am I misinterpreting the tables?
Rear Differential 75w85 vs 75w90 - Any Benefit Either Way

I have 3 vehicles (complaining not bragging). I have Motul in 1, SVG in the 2nd, and HPL in the 3rd. So I wasn’t trying to diss any of those.
I based the decision in #2 & #3 on Subi’s Mega thread. #1 has had the Motul in for awhile, since before the thread, but maybe only 15-20k miles, if that. #3 was supposed to get 75w85, per Ford, but got the HPL 75w90 instead. Ironically, it will see colder start-ups than either Subaru, as they probably will never leave Texas under my ownership.

Amsoil has 75w-85 SVG back in stock. I just got some. I’d run that or a blend with the 75w-90 for heavier/higher loaded vehicles.
Went with Redline 75w85 in the Durango last time, no trailer tow. Wife’s DD, grocery getter, take kids to sports mobile.
Have some Amsoil 75w90 bags on the shelf for the next change only due to easier filling option while laying on my back vs. trying to pump from the bottle was not fun last time.

Lubrizol had an article years ago , around the time MB decided to go with xw-85 in their diffs. They claimed and showed in charts and graphs that the new LV/FE synthetics ran cooler (along with their other benefits) ...
This probably made many folks look for the thickest 90 available ...or switch to the newly introduced 110 "just in case" when time came for a fluid change . It would take more efforts to persuade one to go from say 20-ish cSt xw-90 fluid (the old j306 revision at the time when the diff was made) to 11.6 cSt @100°C in the 75w-85 FE 235.7 fluid no matter how "cooler" the FE ran.

I just did the rear differential in my Tundra to SVG 75W90. Fuel economy is the same.
