I dealt with some trucks that had bearings fail at 80,000 miles, and the axles got chewed up in the process.
I do have to replace the oil seals when they leak and destroy drum brakes at 150,000 miles, and sometimes I wonder if regular oil changes would extend the life of those seals.
But most of the time you don't have to do any gear oil changes.
I explain gear oil changes this way: I know many people have left the oil alone for 200,000 miles and never had a problem, and some suffer at 80,000. Do I really want to learn the hard way about what will happen to me?
