Real World differences between Redline/Amsoil 5w30

Just as I thought - You won't get a consensus as to what is the best oil for this ZO6. Just good suggestions.

So do this - if money is not a factor. Do 6 month Used Oil Analysis on A) Amsoil 5W30 HDD, B) Red Line 5W30 and C) Mobil 1Racing 0W30. Get back with us and report the results to us in 1 1/2 years. Owning a LS7 must make for a nice "science project". Be sure to "beat on it" every now and then, if you are going to drive it year around.

Make it more interesting, use M1 AFE 0w30 instead of Racing 0w30. The AFE meets the GM 4718M spec.

Well... I have an initial UOA from when I bought the car used (M1 5w30); and I will do another at the oil/filter change coming up in a month or so. At this point I am favoring the Redline 0w30 and will plan on doing UOA's at each oil change from here on out. Heck, I might even do one in between changes just because I want to try to anticipate excessive iron/guide wear.

Unfortunately, given the error rates in the testing itself and the possibility of random contamination of various samples, I don't know how conclusive the UOA's will be with a sample size of 1 (ie one vehicle) because I don't know what the deviation of error is for each test/particle, but that might be a reason to call.

The lab I use has universal averages of around 3100 miles per change - so for curiosity's sake I will attempt to sample and/or change the oil at this specific mileage if only so I can also compare to the "average" Z06. I'll be sure to try and report back in 8 and 16 months after each oil change...

I suspect the oil change interval (ie ~3,100 miles) in a street vehicle may simply not be taxing enough to realize any significant differences in wear between two given oils - even two perceived as distinctly different as M1 and Redline.
