That's what I got in the front, both rotors and pads, replaced them a couple months ago, rotors replaced factory set at about 160k km. Factory rotors still looked good, smooth and basically no ridge on outer edge, could have kept them.

Don't think so, must be pad quality, it never happened to any pads I used in the past, first time experience for me.
Actually, we don't see salt on the roads here where I live either. I had good luck with Element3 for some years prior to about a year ago.I've used Element 3 pads on several cars with no problems. But I live in Florida, so we don't salt the roads.
Many Ferodo pads (Premier Eco Friction) use to come with a GG rating.
"FER5100 GG" actually is a Ferodo made compound.
Don't overrate these ratings, often misleading and only one small part
of what actually matters. Some FF rated pads feel better than some GG
rated ones.

Like high initial grab of many euro OEM pads vs steady linear feel of akebonos for example?
I used Wagner ceramic pads once and the amount of dust they created was ridiculous. I can't imagine how bad metallic versions of them would be. Did not like them.

Pic #3 shows the 2 pads fallen apart into 4 pieces.
My suggested pads are Semi Metallic and do cause some brake dust. Not horrible, and nowhere near as bad as the OEM pads on my F-Type Jag. Those coat the wheel and visibly wear the rotor in 40 miles. I think the F-Type OEM pads are are made from a combination of Silicon Carbide and Aluminum Oxide grinding stone material.
If I could get a set of Wagner S/M's for the F-Type, I would.

Semi-metallics are what goes on my vehicles when the OEM pads are replaced. I do not like ceramic pads.Wagner ThermoQuitet Semi Metallic pads. In my opinion, the absolute best 'common off the shelf' (COTS) brake pad in existence. Often G-G rated, and very capable of stopping an enthusiast's car multiple times, without fade or drama. Great initial bite, no fade, perfect release. Priced well too.
In a sea of imported junk, and ceramic underperformers, this one stands out.
They are as good as the old school enthusiast semi metallic pads from Hawk, Brembo, and others.
Got the pads from RA, I'm not gonna bother with speaking with Raybestos, already tossed them too.
Raybestos pads have gone downhill since they stopped using asbestos.
Not just pads, sadly rotors too, got Element3 for my daughter's Acura a couple years ago and they are quite rusty now. I'm done with Raybestos, and Power Stop too, QC issues with PS rotors I was installing last summer, retaining screw hole in one had to recess for screw head, also bought from RA, but I made it work with some filling. Bosch brakes parts never disappointed so far over past 7-8 years. Ceramic pads work fine for daily driver and help maintain rims clean for average person who doesn't wash them regularly.
Maybe, it highly depends on their particular application.
I personally swapped from GG rated pads (Ferodo Premier Eco) to FF rated OE
BMW/Mini pads (manufactured by Galfer) on front (while I kept the GG rated
Ferodos on rear). With the Ferodos I missed the stiff/hard pedal feel I loved
with the factory pads.
I wanted to have it back again. Granted, the GG rated Ferodos provided some
tad higher deceleration at the same pedal pressure, but they felt oddly softer
compared to the FF rated OE pads. That said the drilled rotors (Brembo Xtra)
raised some furrows to the Ferodo pads while with the FF rated OE pads are
noticeably less of an issue.
Ferodo Premier Eco ~$40 vs OE BMW/Mini ~$100. You get what you pay for?

Yeah they design the car with a normal brake load in mind, eg old school non-ABS, then use the ABS programming as a proportioning valve to send more to the rears under certain conditions that happen often. Supposed to reduce squatting/ nosediving.
