Ok, this might make a good serious line of threads..

As the title states, your throughts?

My grade: I

Drove a buddy's Focus for a week with these tires.

Pros: Hang on like glue to the road.

Cons: None-only drove it in nice weather, hence the grade.

Had these tires on a 98 Civic EX. Nice grip but they are a noisey on the highway. They lasted for 50K miles before we got rid of the car.

they vary slightly size to size.. but overall an excellent value and good performer.

What is an I grade? Is it not showing right on my computer?

The design is an old one now, which either means proven or that there are better options out there.

My only negative on this tire was lots of comments on MPG losses... but that is always a tradeoff.

I had these on a Camry. They had great grip -dry, wet and snow. They got noisy at 20k miles and I couldn't stand it at 30k so I changed them out. Moved to Pilot Exalto AS they were as good and quieter than the Traction T/A. Exaltos lasted 60k, for me they were the better overall value.

BFG is selling off-shoots of this tire line to Sams Club and Costco. I think they are calling it the touring or something like that.

They are a very cheap tire, I would say they are a great value. They will be my next set of tires.

They cost pretty much the same as no name douglas tires from walmart.

I would by no means call them a fantastic tire, just a working mans tire who doesn't want a no name..

The only reason I do not have a set on my car now is the hub cap rubbed on the rim protector and Made a TERRIBLE noise at parking lot speeds.

Other than that they stuck like glue, cornered well and even did pretty [censored] well in snow. Not OK Pretty dang well.

I miss them.

After a while they did get noisier but dang I miss them.

Mine were 185/65R14 on a lowered Neon with other suspension mods.

For the tires I have had on the car

They were quieter than my Goodyear Integrity (OEM) with much better traction & handling under any circumstance.

They definitely were noisier than the Sumitomo HTR+ on there now but still had better handling and traction by a margin.

I might just deal with the noise again after these tires are done!!!

Nice review, short and sweet. lol I bought them back in the summer with the Discount Tire $70 rebate ( available now), and a great credit for my YK 520's.

I have a few thousand miles on them, so far so good. Smooth running, quiet with good hydroplaning resistance. Couldn't pass on them with the deal DT gave me. Looking for better treadwear than the 520's, which I can't recommend because of that.

I had these tires on a Buick Regal GS (supercharged). I'll agree with everyone else, stuck like glue, mpg went down slightly and did get noisy near the end of their life. I think I changed them out at 45k. My father purchased the "Sam's Club" version of this tire and it was super noisy, right from the start. He could only take it 20k and swapped them out.

They are a few years' old design and not quite as good as some more current high performance all seasons. But for the price, I think they perform very well and are a great value. And they are the best performance tire available in some smaller sizes that are less common on late model cars. They were a very great match to our Escort with 14" wheels.

Now that is good to know...

I had them on a vehicle and I loved them. I got great traction in all conditions.

Not all tires get updated every year, so most tires designs might be a few years old but if the design works why change it?

Been running them on an 03 Subaru Legacy for about a year and 23K miles. Have been doing fine. Have not noticed extra tire noise. Worked fine last winter when we were at Lake Geneva, WI and had 8-10" snow to drive in. Got them at Costco.

Looking forward to how they do long term.

I've had 4 sets and they are a great tire and a great value. Got 79K out of the last set.

At DT it's a 70K rated tire, so that's pretty good. Hoping for at least 60k.

Most of my mileage is highway. The last set that I drove 79K had 1/32 left on the tread, so they were used up. Bought all of my T/A's at Sams Club. They are just an all around great tire.

Recently replaced these OEM tires on our 2003 Olds Alero. They had 50K miles on them, but probably could have been run another 10K legally. These were solid tires overall, good dry and wet traction and quiet with a decent ride. The thing that impressed me the most about these was their consistency. They didn't get noisier as they got closer to the end of their life, and maintained all of their handling and traction characteristics.

Not sure how well this fits, but I just bought a set of BFG Advantage T/A's. They are a new design in '09, but certainly aren't a replacement for the traction ta's as they aren't directional, and they are very quiet with a less aggressive tread pattern. But, like the Tractions the sipes and grooves are the full depth of the tread so they still should have some bite in snow when they're a bit worn. The traction is good, they are very quiet, they are soft and I would maybe consider going up to the V rated tires if I buy another set even for a family car like my Accord. I'll wait to post a full review until we see significant snow, but for now if you're in the market for cheap touring tires these might be your ticket.

Until you posted that I didn't know they are directional. Not that it matters, it's fine. Like the Gen HP's (also direc.) I bought, DT had to order them so I didn't get to at them closely first. And, DT would rotate them correctly anyway. Good to know though.
