Rate this tire: BFG Traction T/As

I think there are at least 2 models of the Traction T/A, the H-rated directional ones and the T-rated. This might account for why some said they got a long wear life and not much noise, while others said great traction but noisy.

I had a set of Traction T/As H-rated directionals that I got from a tire store. They were expensive then at least (i got a good deal though), had good traction wet or dry and in snow, but rode very hard and were noisy.

Just to clarify, I bought the T rated T/A's (T/A T) and they are directional, which I found out yesterday. lol

Also got an email from DT yesterday with a rotation reminder on these tires, not enough miles though. As usual it says I can forward the email to a friend.

Everyone, please pay attention... here's your difference in the two models and the two tread designs....

There are two models of the Traction T/A.

One is called the "Spec" version. That's the real difference.

One, which came as an OE tire on the V6 Mustang, which isn't directional. It is called the "Traction T/A Spec"

There is the second tire, which is directional. This is the model that I put on my niece's Grand Am, and the one that we're probably more familiar with. It is available in an "H" or "T" version.

The tires I referenced in my post above were definitely of the second (directional) variety.

That is good to know...

I think Pontiac used to use a lot of speced Traction T/A similar to the first pic. They didn't have the longest tread life rating but they did everything pretty well decent wet, dry and snow traction, very quiet and rode good. I don't know if anyone sold this exact tire on the aftermarket.

The T/A directional H-rated (and maybe T) tire is a whole different thing really, good traction but hard riding and noisy.

My memory is foggy but I think there was another T-rated Traction tire. It looked like a piece of junk, flimsy soft construction, non-agressive tread pattern and a high tread wear rating.

I apologize. But this thread was turning into a bunch of speculation and wild guesses...

It's cool. I think I knew there were several T/A's, but I learned the T rated(mine) were directional.

Just kidding with Marty Feldman bit.

No problem man. I liked it. No offense taken.

Yesterday, I went back in to reduce the font size a bit... but the time frame allowed to edit the post had expired.

As the title states, your throughts?

My grade: I

Drove a buddy's Focus for a week with these tires.

Pros: Hang on like glue to the road.

Cons: None-only drove it in nice weather, hence the grade.

Have had them on the Elantra for almost four years. Tires are about to be replaced after 60k miles. They've been excellent performers in every condition and have even done well in 6"+ snows and slush. I'm considering buying them again, but as with everything automotive, I must spend hours and hours of research!

Within the past few months I put the T/As on both my 3 and Taurus. Light years ahead of the POS Toyos on the 3. I also like them more than the TripleTreads on the Taurus. Definitely quieter.
