Since all filters are not created equal , here is a little breakdown for you based on user exp here and what they are marketed as :

10k~15k OCI : M1 , Bosch D+ , K/N , New Purolator Synthetic , Amsoil EA, Napa Synthetic, Royal Purple

5k~10K OCI : Bosch Premium, Carquest Blue, Napa Gold , Fram XG, P1, Denso, Wix , Motocraft, German made Mann ( correct me if im wrong here guys ... )

3k~5k OCI : CQ red, Napa Proselect/Silver, Purolator Classic and the rest

Hope this helps you make a decision based on your application .

That being said , P1 right now , for $5 a piece at AAP is at awesome deal. Especially when you combine their A123 or P20 coupon codes. You can get it as low as 3/ea . Thats 3 P1 for the price of 1 M1 when its on sale.

Nope. Actually one of the better flowing filters out there, it has so much media its almost ridiculous, but that's how they get great flow and filtration all at once.

I always reference this thread when the question comes up because it shows real test data on how well the PureOne flows.

Anytime ... that data is slowly helping dissolve the myth that PureOne filters are too restrictive. They aren't, and probably flow better than a lot of the filters on the market. Problem is, it's very hard to get this kind of test data from manufacturers, and I'm glad Purolator took the time to help out someone with a real concern about flow rate.

For a 5000 mile OCI, the purolator classic is a great choice. only $3.27 @ Wal-mart, or the AC Delco for $3.87 ...

Agreed. But with the correct coupons you can get P1 for around the same price when its on sale like it is now. Thats what makes it an awesome deal. Right now at AAP , you can buy 4 filters + a purolator air filter and get 10 off with code A123 and then get a $6.00 MIR on the air filter through purolator.
So for me , 4 oil filters = $20.00
1 Air filter = $14.99
Total : 34.99 - 10(coupon)-6(MIR) = 18.99 + Tax for all that !

I agree with LeakySeals. The P1 is an excellent filter, probably best bang for the buck filter, but it isn't a true extended drain filter and it isn't marketed as such either. I definitely wouldn't take it to 15,000 miles. All 3 are excellent filters but only 2 are true extended drain filters.

As do I. Well said.

I agree with you for the most part, but personally I would move the Fram XG up, and the K&N down along with the Denso and Motorcraft.

The XG is designed for extended OCIs (and it shows). While similar to the M1, the K&N is more in-line with a P1 than a D+. And Motorcraft media should be similar if not the same as Purolator Classics.

Doesn't Ford now use 7,500 mile OCI's with their Motorcraft oil and oil filters? If so I guess according to Ford the "Purolator Classic" media in Motorcraft oil filters can make 7,500 miles in non severe conditions.

PureOne has a shell "like a Pepsi can?" Bullsnot. My old big blocks run >100 PSI cold and 80 PSI hot, spiking higher on high-RPM bursts. NEVER had a failure, and I've squeezed the can while having someone start the engine- it doesn't deflect or bulge at all like a Fram orange can does. It may not be an iron pipe, but it doesn't HAVE to be. Its got plenty of design margin.

I agree. The Mobil 1 is a good filter, but not worth the price.

Is this list agreeable with everyone? If so, it answers my question to whether a Toyota Denso filter is good for my planned 10k OCIs in a 2012 Prius. It is.

The new Mustang specs a 10,000-mile OCI. In a clean engine, almost any media should be good for that mileage. I think the ADBV being silicone is more important in this case.

The M1 and the D+ are maybe a step above the P1, but I'd use aany of these three pretty much interchangeably.
If I had some of each laying around (I do), I'd prefer the thicker D+ or M1 cans for winter use, but I doubt that it really matters.

I know you asked about those three, but here is my choices.

Wix for 10,000 - 11,000 OCI's

Amsoil for 20,000 - 22,000 OCI's

I'm currently running the Wix filters with Amsoil oil in both my dodge ram and my wife's durango. I change the filter and add a quart between 10,000 and 11,000 and I've had no issues.
