In what order would you rate these three oil filters in terms of over all quality ?

Bosch Distance Plus
Mobil 1
Puolator PureOne

Long Drain- 10,000 to 15,000 Miles
1. Bosch Distance Plus
2. Mobil 1 EP
Pretty much a tie really.

10,000 miles and Lower- 10,000 miles if you have a clean engine.
1. Pure One

The Mobil 1 filter is high quality and I'm sure the BDP is also.
The Pureone is a great filter (and all you really need) for a 7.5K OCI.
If I were doing 5K OCI's I'd stick with Purolator Classics which are under $4 at Walmart.

The PureOne is the cheapest, has a shell like a can of pepsi and is not an extended drain filter. Purolator has a new synthetic filter that is in the same class as the M1 and Bosch D+

All three are fine filters. I have used a lot of M1 filters and find them to be outstanding. A friend does 15K+ OCIs with M1 ep 5-30 and uses the M1 filter. They appear to be fine for that run and looked good after we cut one open. However all will work great in most areas.

You know this how? Are you buying the advertising hype?

I'd have to say "it depends" ...

For any normal OCI, they are all overkill.

For reasonably extended OCIs, I'd say they would all work well. I would not hesitate in using any of these up to 15k miles with any decent modern engine (perhaps not a known sludger). I would completely disagree with LeakySeals that the PureOne is not decent for extended drains. Part of this really depends upon what "extended drain" means for each application.
Examples: My Fusion 2.5L uses a tiny "normal" 51348 Wix for OEM 7.5k miles; I have every bit of confidence that a PureOne could double that. Many Dmax UOAs confirm good performance when the active OLM allows up to 10-12k miles on "normal" oil and filters; no reason to not think a PureOne couldn't push past that.

I've not seen any conclusive proof of filter efficiency that makes me believe any of the three are statistically significantly "better" in efficiency than the other. As for other "quality" issues, they all have high-end construction, silicone ADBV, etc.

I'd choose based upon price, relative to the specific application.

Common sense. Yup, Purolator would not go through the process of manufacturing a synthetic media filter, market it for extended drains just for fun. If you want to cling to the paper pureOne with a Pepsi can shell for extended drains thats up to you. but Its Purolator that made a new extended drain filter, challenge them for a reason.

I have to say I'm not a huge fan of the M1 filter. Its got a SUPER solid can, but other than that its not all that special. Its GOOD, but not worth the price, and that much can thickness is just overkill unless you're pushing oil pressures up around 200 psi. Bang for the buck, its hard to beat the PureOne.

PureOne has a shell "like a Pepsi can?" Bullsnot. My old big blocks run >100 PSI cold and 80 PSI hot, spiking higher on high-RPM bursts. NEVER had a failure, and I've squeezed the can while having someone start the engine- it doesn't deflect or bulge at all like a Fram orange can does. It may not be an iron pipe, but it doesn't HAVE to be. Its got plenty of design margin.

Do 5K oil changes on all my vehicles and WIX filters are my preference over all the above

Its always funny to see people angrily rush to the defense of their precious PureOne. After using the Fram XG switched to a PureOne and was horrified as it throbbed like a human heart. A P1 IS WAY THINNER than a Fram XG. But I got over that thinness and continued to use it.

Any truth to the PureOne having constriction issues with pushing oil through it's filter media ?

I agree with LeakySeals. The P1 is an excellent filter, probably best bang for the buck filter, but it isn't a true extended drain filter and it isn't marketed as such either. I definitely wouldn't take it to 15,000 miles. All 3 are excellent filters but only 2 are true extended drain filters.

Nope. Actually one of the better flowing filters out there, it has so much media its almost ridiculous, but that's how they get great flow and filtration all at once.

No

So , in a clean engine PureOne would not be an issue ? In a dirtier engine worse case - you have to shorten your OCI due to filter media being so good ?

Pure Ones have AWESOME filter media-but, as a truck owner that sometimes has to run on gravel roads, I would stick with (and use) the Bosch D+. The wife's xB gets the oversize P1, (PL20195 in place of the standard PL14476)-they work great and look great when cut apart afterwards.
