Is it better to replace the magents in the pans with those super strong rare earth magnets? Or is the stock mag net good enough?

I use the strongest magnets I can find on my oil plug and mounted on the oil filter. The stronger they are the better the mag field can penetrate the can and extend farther into the oil itself. I mount them with like poles together as the repulsion would also help push the fields into the oil. The more magnets and the stronger they are, the better they work. I've been using them for 13 years w/o a single problem. Every time I've cut a used oil filter open there have been piles of metal stuck to the can by the magnets.

A place that sells a variety of magnet types and sizes is at: http://www.scientificsonline.com
or, http://edmundscientific.com (it's the same company) they have a free catalog too with lots of stuff for hobbiests.
