The school should simply comply with Chrysler's request and be done with it. Let's keep in mind that the car would likely have been destroyed by Chrysler years before if it had not been loaned to the school. Just like so many other pre-production vehicles.

Exactly! Sometimes in this country we seem to treat a car as more significant than it is.

I wonder if due to the ownership of the company when these cars were donated (the OLD Chrysler) could legally be challenged.

It would seem that the new ownership FIAT is not entitled to these items back.

I agree with others here keep the best ones and donate them to museums.

I do have a little knowledge on this subject, when I signed up for my class we were given a lecture that the school cant sell the car or parts off of it they cant drive it like morons . Basically you have to be very smart. Honestly the fact that chrysler is only demanding the car be crushed is nice. The schools that caused this can lose their privileges to receive donated vehicles forever. Its sad and I think chrysler should just take this one and stick it in a museum but disable it to where it cannot be driven. I do not think they should have to buy the car back but I do think a museum makes sense.
chrysler donated 2 viper engines to us and last year we were ordered by them to tear the engines apart and destroy the pieces so it couldn't be reused. We didnt know why but maybe it has been in the works for awhile.

the issue there is the college agreed to the terms. If they were to do that rney could lose the right to get anything donated from manufacturers.
