I've cut open many used E-cores and each one has been perfect.

Until I see one or start seeing many filters with photos posted at a place that I trust (don't where that is these days

) I'll continue to trust and use them.

Depends on how you look at it. I just paid $15.00 for a mercruiser filter for my boat p/n 35-866340k01. Guess what! It's an E-core! Wish I would have looked at it before I left the dealer cause that's where it would have stayed!!
 
I'll keep using the PF46's on my niece's Grand Am until I start seeing the e-cores. At that point, I'll switch it over to Napa ProSelects.
