Why do some YouTube creators choose to be openly antagonistic and hostile to their own audiences?
I've come across a few YouTube creators that put out some quality content. However, these same creators are openly antagonistic (and sometimes verbally hostile on camera) toward their own audiences. They will literally look into the camera and blame their audience for things that are almost bizarre. This seems counterproductive to me.
This one guy looked into the camera and openly blamed his own audience for someone messing with his son's car. Why was it the fault of someone in the audience (most who live hundreds or thousands of miles away), and not some random local loser that who chose to vandalize his son's car at random? I have no idea.
Another guy got upset with his audience for calling his cell phone in the evening to conduct business (the YouTube channel is business related... he buys and sells used equipment on his own). If he really can't come up with a possible solution for that on his own, without blasting his own audience, then he's in the wrong line of work. Here's one solution.... Phone rings in the evening. Look at your phone. Don't recognize the number? Then let it go to a thing called "voice mail" that has existed for decades now, and then return the call at your convenience the next morning. Duh. Problem solved. Don't take it out on your audience.
Another has hostile back and forths with the camera because of people who have left him comments on past videos that he was offended by. The problem is, these comments based on the fact that there can be multiple ways to come up with the same successful end result. But the creator views the way that he does things to be the *only* correct way to do it.
I do not find this type of dialogue to be worthy at all. However, there are some otherwise talented creators who seem to thrive on it.
Is there something that I'm missing here? Or have I stumbled onto some people who are talented, but just have flaws with their own personalities in dealing with other people?
