Get Motul X-Clean. It is made for engines with DPF.Any concerns on the Motul and its higher ash/sulphur content than others mentioned in thread? Specifically for the particulate filter.
what Oil did you end up using I've currently been using esp 5w30 with 10k km intervals I want to switch to motul Xclean gen 2. Has anyone tried using it yet?
I’m trying Xlean Gen 2 on this first change, may try ESP at some point as well. Going to do 5k mile intervalswhat Oil did you end up using I've currently been using esp 5w30 with 10k km intervals I want to switch to motul Xclean gen 2. Has anyone tried using it yet?
There are no traces of C1. C1 is a thinner oil. Additives are probably the same. If that is going to make you sleep better, do it.Question for the experts here:
I’m thinking it might be advantageous to do an oil change yearly (every ~15k miles) at dealer to retain any chance that LR will help out on engine in case of crankshaft failure.
My question would be. Let’s say I do that oil change. I believe they use C1 oil. Then I go home and drain that, fill with, say, a more protective C3 oil like Mobil 1 ESP. Then change at 5k intervals, until the next dealer change. Rinse repeat.
Any problem with that? Will a C1 and C3 oil be compatible if traces of C1 are left with a drain and refill?
The C1 almost becomes a rinse oil at that point.
Good to know ESP is low saps? I thought it was mid. Perhaps mistakenly.I wouldn't expect much in terms of help from a manufacturer at double the warrantied age.
It sounds like you're trying to decide between optimizing for bearing vs. DPF durability. The M1 5w30 ESP originally suggested would be ideal. High quality base oil, great HTHS, low saps, cheap and easy to find. At 5K oil changes I wouldn't see the value in paying the amsoil/total premium (plus shipping).
ESP literally means “Emissions System Protection” (ie low-SAPS) and it’s a C3, which is low-SAPS. Some oil makers refer to low-SAPS as mid-SAPS, but a C3 is a C3, so the SAPS limit is set in that spec.Good to know ESP is low saps? I thought it was mid. Perhaps mistakenly.
Edit: this says mid saps: https://www.mobil.com/en/lubricants/for-personal-vehicles/our-products/products/mobil-1-esp-5w-30
Well Amsoil has a LS (low sap) 5w30 and an MS (mid sap) 5w40, both C3, so would assume the saps level vary?ESP literally means “Emissions System Protection” (ie low-SAPS) and it’s a C3, which is low-SAPS.
