You are gonna' get differences of opinions. Technically you are using a product different than that recommended. But as a practical matter they would have to prove that that caused damage. Personally if I were you, in the heat of Texas I would use the 10W-30. The difference in performance will be slight. The 5w30 will shear down more (get a little thinner)
Just carefully document the changing of oil with dates and milage. There is no requirement by the auto company to document the oil change in a certain way. Which means you really are not required to show sales receipts...If you get my drift. Now I would keep receipts just in case but no reason to mention you used 10W oil.
