Radical concept with break-in oil

We seem to be in agreement that manufacture break-in oil on the average is beefier with one component or another than purchased oil, and many new car owners remove their break-in oil earlier than the standard OCI to only remove metal filings from continuing to be circulated throughout the engine thus producing more wear.

Has anybody tried or thought about filtering their manufacturer break-in oil during the break-in period to remove those metal contaminants and reuse the oil for the remainder of the manufacturer's OCI period? The oil add package has not been depleted and the TBN should be pretty good; it only has break-in metal filings and other particles that have worn off new internal parts.

What filter material or process would you recommend?
 
Well only a few manufacture's use beefier then normal break-in oil and sime of this also depends on what country the vechile is manufactured in. Case in point almost none of Toyota's OEM factor fill UOA show any thing extrodanary in term's of the added package of the oil. Now some of them do show some odd add pack's but these are also not usualy domesticly produced Toyota's usualy these are the models that are produced in Japan. Honda on the other hand usualy has an insanely high moly content. Now what we do not know is if this is additive package inthe oil, part of their assembly lube or a coating placed ont he part's themselfs. So their are more questions then answere's.

Now with all the choices in oil today you can get what ever level of additives you want so their is no reason to filter factory fill! I mean between additives and fully formulated oils you can get what ever you want. The cost of filtering the oil to submicron levels is higher then what is reasonable for what you want to accomplish! No amount of additives can make up for allthe garbage that is in break in oil by the 1000 mile mark on most vechiles that is shooting right past the oil filter.
 
After thinking about your idea I think the best plan is to leave ff in for 5000 miles and let the filters catch particles. Just change the filter with a new pre-filled filter at 1500 and 3000 miles so particles won't be washed back into the engine if the filter happens to bypass.

Or, use a filter with a pre-media bypass valve, such as the WIX.
 
I guess the oil filter on the car is doing this now. After the break in the filter is going to be filtering the same way so why worry now? So if you are going down to whatever micron size filter later, going smaller on break in isn't going to gain you much.

Or did I miss something?
 
Break in oil may have unusual additive levels in it because it has picked up the assembly lube.

For all I know, regular oil is used in the factory, but the assembly lube makes it look like a unique product during oil analysis.
