I didn't really "need" an adapter but had some special requirements you may not face with a more or less standard install.. namely the need to have a 2nd port for a "real" oil pressure gauge sender.
There is only one oil port on the 5.4L.. where the OE OP sender mounts behind the driver's motor mount. The tee I used with four ports (in, out and two for senders) barely fit the space and was incredibly difficult to fit and avoid drips. After fighting drips for six months, I whipped my wallet out for a cleaner option. I did manage to get just the bypass with the OE sender hooked (only three ports- in, out and OP sender) up with no leaks as a test, however. You should be able to as well. My advice is to use lots of teflon tape.
What I did was use the base from the Top Tog bypass system (paretopoint.com), which has a bunch of ports. It mounts under the oil filter and everything is accessible. The base is pretty expensive, though extremely well made. Why not go with the full Pareto parallel flow filter system along with the base? First reason... I had the Racor already. Plus, the Racor system is more efficient. Bypass flows more than parallel flow too and because I am running 30 grade oil, the oil pressure is higher than I like and the bypass configuration knocked a few PSI off the OP. The Top Dog base gave me some extra ports as well, one of which I utilized for a sampling port and I have future plans for a DP gauge setup.
