Racing Oils with Lake Speed Jr

Good content. Lots and lots of talk about ZDDP, how and why it's the most important anti-wear additive. "1000-1500 ppm ZDDP is a safe zone to be in..." at 24:44. Also mentions that elevated Moly causes deposits to build up (25:22).
I assume you can offset the deposit issues that come with high levels of moly?

There’s trade offs in every oil formulation. I’ve said this in other posts. There’s upsides and down sides to higher moly content. You can off set the deposit issues with different base stocks and detergents. But then you’re taking up more space in your additives. And then looking at compatibility issues.

With racing oils vs SP. You’re not expecting to get extended engine life. Much like aircraft oils and engines that have a set life span. Racing engines typically have a set life span as well. So you weigh the pros and cons in the formulations.
