RA shipping.. very interesting

I think to some degree they play on the reality that some people don't look at the cost of shipping. They see the part is less expensive than elsewhere and are 'blinded' or oblivious to the freight rates. You could see this set up on eBay in the past where sellers offered items for $0.99 with $15.99 shipping (and the item ships 1st-Class Mail for $1.50 or even Priority for less than $5).

Nobody directly employed by Rock Auto handles your parts. They just send the warehouse a Rock Auto-generated shipping label and packing slip, and the warehouse does the rest.

I'm well aware of that. I even mentioned that fact in my email that I sent to RA when I mentioned that their shipping rates were too high for that one battery clamp.
It's obvious that this one part store didn't have the USPS shipping software there. I just figured that it's cheap to install and that they were losing a lot of sales because of high shipping.
I got the usual form letter back from them saying that I should shop around or try to put all the necessary items in the same cart. Being a customer for over 10 years, I knew that.
