Quick Question for first oil analysis

Hello;

I will be doing my first Blackstone Standard Analysis with a TBN. I have ordered the kit, but it has not arrived, and I want to change my oil.

I need to know how much to seal in a clean containers to await the arrival of the test kit.

Question:
How many oz or mil does Blackstone need to do each test?

if you save 8 ounces it will be plenty. i "think" its 4 or 6 Ounce container.
save 12 just to be safe.

Remember to clean the outside of the drainplug area well before you take out the drain plug. Run the engine for a 15 minute drive also before the analysis. Let the oil flow for a couple of seconds before you capture the oil in a very clean container. I think 12 is to much to save 8 oz.'s would be in a better range. I would keep the container in a warm area and shake well before you fill the Blackstone bottle.

What should I clean the exterior of the drainplug area with, to avoid chemical contamination?

For the TBN 8oz seems high, that's 1/4 of a quart.
Does Blackstone really need that much of my clean oil?

why cant you just wait for the bottle ?
it'll get to you quick.

where i live i'm just gonna stroll down the creek a couple times and just wipe it off with a rag. then when you pull the plug. let it drain long enough to get going good then get in there and fill'er up.

Blackstone website has your answers in a FAQ also. I saved 4oz. per their instructions while waiting for the kit.

Just clean with a white towel and some rubbing alcohol....overkill..........maybe, I thought the 8 ozx would be a good range....overkill...maybe. Keep warm and shake....overkill...maybe. I just try to do things right...........overkill?........never!

The O/C is done, and I saved a little over 4oz, so that should be fine.

I decided to clean the area of the drain plug with a white cloth and technical grade isopropyl alcohol so - lucky guess!

I will remember to post the UOA in the proper forum when the results are in. More Redline results for those interested.
