Has anyone used their store brand quick drain oil plugs? they work just like a standard plug but you push in and then turn for easy expelling of oil.

My plug installed okay, it was flush with the pan and it works as it's supposed to, but even while closed now I have a large spot on the ground under my oil pan. I put my fingers on it and it was oil (it's fairly fresh oil, that's why I had to check).

I touched the tip of the 'spout' with my finger and there is oil on the tip of it. I didn't see any dripping out, but it seems as if it's slowly seeping out. No oil seems to be leaking from the base of the plug, just at the tip where the drain hole is. I only notice an oil spot if I've been parked there for longer than an hour.

I'm thinking I need to return the plug but I can't do that unless I want all my oil to go bye-bye. I just changed it.

Anyone else have that problem or is it just a faulty plug?

Sounds faulty. Take a look on Amazon for a different option as there are reviews on there. I think there is a brand that begins with S that is well thought of.

You can drain the oil and reuse it.

I used the fram sure drain before.. it had a full brass cap on the end you had to take off.. and a valve too..

I'm guessing you have a defective one... go buy another one.

drain the oil into a clean container.. replace plug and refill.

(then return defective one)

Sounds like you got a bad one. Just drain your new oil into a clean pan and reuse it after you exchange the valve.

I have a Fumoto valve and love it, never failed/dripped in over three years now.

get a fumoto valve. i've been using them for a couple years now and they work great. there is a sort of two step process to open it which prevents it from accidentally leaking.

you can also get one with a nipple on it that you can connect a plastic tube to. this will allow you to drain the oil directly into a jug or container.

And post a video up of it so we can all see how well you did.

LOL

The fumoto valves are great. The spout is very convenient(check clearance)

and mine has a keeper that keeps the valve closed.
