Can anyone tell me about Auto-RX? I dont know much about it, but I am worried about using it for the first time on my LT1. Will it ruin my O2 sensors? The engine has about 120,000 miles on it, using Mobil 1 since I bought it with 35,000 miles. Is this an issue I should be concerned about before using this product?
Any other helpful hints would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,

I am currently using this product in two cars. My sons Mazda which has about 90,000 miles and my toyota cressida with 250,000 miles. It has slowed oil consumption in both cars by 100% so far. I have a second treatment for the toyota and plan to go back to a thicker oil which will make the reduction 200% or more. The Toyota has more power and runs great. The best milage before the treatment was 20.3 miles to the gallon and my last tank gave me 22.5 so milage has improved. In all honesty this may be the result of using a thinner oil for the treatment. I plan to use it in all my cars at about 70,000 mile intervals. Great stuff for cleanning the ring packs for sure.

Frank,
Thanks for the link to the website... There is plenty of data for me to mull over...
TR3,
Thank you for your testimonial... I do appreciate your feedback.
Another related question I have is, how does this treatment compare to the MotorVac process? I still am a bit leery of both of the procedures, since there is so much electronic hardware that can be affected...
Just my fears, I suppose...
At this time, I dont burn any oil, and haven't any leaking seals, so I am not sure that this is the right application for Auto-RX...
Thanks for everyone's input
George

Well, if you feel your enginr is running well given the mileage etc then I say don't fix anything if it ain't broke. If it starts to consume oil later, or you have to pull a valve cover and see varnish or grime then the RX is in your future. RX will do no harm, probably some good but if you are happy with current operations why take any chances.

George,
I use Auto-Rx starting when the engine is new. Engine build up is very slow and gradual. So I use it to keep my engines clean from day one and then continue to add a 3 oz. maint. dose with each oil change. It is definetly easier to prevent rather than cure a problem. JMO

It's now my opinion that RX is better used as a preventive measure on engines that are prone to noisy lifers. My reasoning is that it needs oil flow in the first place to allow RX to work. Once the lifters get noisy the flow is already severely compromised thus not allowing RX to work well or as quickly.

Maybe if there was NO flow, but as long as there is some, it will clean 'em out.

It is my opinion that ARX is a better maintenance tool, than a cure for deglect. Used on an occasional basis is far better than, waiting for sludge and engine damage to occur. Cleaning the ring packs will go a long way in limiting blow by gases entering the crankcase. Better combustion should actually make life alot easier on the emission controls. O2 sensors have never been an issue with ARX.

Will the Arx slow oil leaks other than the "rotating seals" - ie., engine gaskets, oil pan, valve cover, etc.?

Auto-Rx Pro's and Con's compared to Motor Vac

Pro's

Price is cheap.

Gentle slow cleaning of all parts touched by oil.

Revitilizes dirty hardened seals by cleaning them not by swelling with harsh solvents.

Safe no possable way to damage the engine useing Auto-Rx.

Motor-Vac can and has damaged engines when the technicians has screwed up.

If your problem is related to dirty engine, stuck rings, or hard seals AUto-Rx is a good choice. If you are haveing iussues with carbon deposits on the top of pistons then GM's deposit cleaning system is best idea. I am not a fan of Motor-Vac. I have documented a few engine failures on low millage North Stars due to Motor-Vac. It appears that the techician did something wrong but not knowing the system well I can not say. I belive that GM does not endorse any engine evacution with solvents at automated or not. They also do not endorse any system for cleaning the EGR port TB and piston crowns other then their own system.
