I just got my latest anaylsis back. I don't have it with me to type in, but I had a question about sampling technique. When I took this last sample, I couldn't locate an extractor, so I ran the engine for a bit, unscrewed the filter, and took the sample from the oil there. In retrospect, this was probably pretty stupid, but I figured if it had been nicely mixed, it would be ok. So I am wondering, would this cause elevated readings of dirt or contaminants? My analysis showed high Silicon, but no other wear metals, and high Potassium and Sodium, but no glycol. Should I consider that sample totally bogus, and re-sample, or should I change my oil immediately?
