I sent Lucas the following question: I'm interested in Lucas HD Oil Stablizer. I'd like to know how the MPG can increase when this will thicken the oil? Todays oils are thinner to get more MPGs.

Got this answer:Lucas Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer will increase your oil's viscosity but it also increases film strength and lubricity. Film strength gives rings a better seal and
more positive lubrication. The oil is stronger in terms of film strength but slicker at the same time. The greatest benefit is reduction in friction, wear and heat generated from friction. Results are more easily measured in terms of extended drain intervals and longer engine life. Dyno testing in the past has revealed an increase of 1hp in racing applications and this is a very rare result of just a change in
lubrication.

Thoughts?

they are still saying that about PTFE and slick50. I think todays tolerances are too small for a substance like that. People still use it to stop oil burning - fill the gap of worn rings - that too has been somewhat debunked. They arent warn, they are stuck. They need to be cleaned out. PU and its piston pics, along those lines.

1hp increasse in racing applications. As a reference point is that a big deal when translated to the average driver?

NO, because who in the heck could decipher ANY slight change in HP from dyno run to dyno run!? If any of that other drivel was swaying me, the 1 HP would be an immediate red flag!

Wow! What fractional horsepower increase will my roughly-90-hp-at-the-wheels xB see? 0.2? 0.3?

I can't wait!

1 hp is less than the error in the calibration of the instruments on the dynamometer. Even if it is real, that is what, an improvement of 1/800th of the engine's output?

This snake oil, even if it works as claimed, will never pay for itself. Anything that actually does save gas must first pay for itself before it starts leaving any money in your pocket.

Basically just heavy weight petroleum.I find it hard to believe its slipperier than thinner motor oil that has anti friction additives already in it.Just the additional drag on the oil pump should kill any hp gains thru the added "slippery" benefits.

It works great if you'e trying to dump an oil burner or something with a slight knock. Many a bad trade my lousy manager took in got some LOS. LOL

my friends use it because they want the best for their vehicles but are soooo ignorant as to what the Lucas stuff is. in their mind it does everything it claims to say it does and so that obviously means its good stuff. guys that know nothing about oil use it all the time thinking they are doing good. ya know the same type that buys 93 octane gas for no reason because their car uses and needs 87 octane. they just think its better for whatever reason. These guys also think they know alot about cars and are waaaay to stubborn to take any of my oil advice. I just laugh waiting for something to go wrong as they add every Lucas product to every nook and cranny of their car. lol

Indianapolis Colts fans at Lucas Oil Stadium. They use it to get oiled up!
