I have a 94 honda cb1000(the big one)that I bought used. I am wanting to do and oil and filter change. I have two bottles of castrol 4t 20w-50 that I want to use. The service manual states it ok to use this weight oil. The bikes recommended oil is 10w-40. Should I mix two bottles of castrol 4t 10w-40 with the 20-50? Or not mix?
I have been reading a lot on the hdeos in 15-40 and the syn 5-40 with good results.
Just thought I would ask since I have two bottles of 20-50 handy.
Thanks,
Mike

If you need to use the 20W-50, I see no worries about mixing it with the 10W-40. Summer is coming anyway, and your bike probably won't feel the difference.

Thats what I thought as well. I figured that it would shear down anyway and I do short oci anyway like 1500 to 2000 miles.

sure mix it, no big deal.

and be ready to dump it in 3k miles or less. in my testing of castrol 4T it was.......very under performing. and by that i mean it was so lack luster that they should pay me to use it, not i pay them.
