Question about Collinite 476s

Just finished up waxing/polishing with Nufinish and I'd like to top it off with Collinite 476s. Looking over the 476s MSDS, I find it has a solvent in it and was wondering if that solvent would be enough to remove the Nufinish

That's a difficult question to answer as its impossible to measure. The general consensus among car care products mfr's is that a solventy product will likely remove *some* of the underlying product. How much and what's the compromise can't be defined. Lots of theories out there but zero proof.

IMO, the only reason to apply a wax on top of a sealant is to alter the looks. If appearance is important to you and you're willing to possibly compromise the protection afforded by the NuFinish, there is no harm in using the Collinite.

In the long run it's not THAT big a deal. Neither product lasts forever so a reapplication will be required at some point. If you have the Collinite on hand, definitely give it a try and see how you like it.

Collinite is a carnauba based wax however it does contain solvents (most "waxes" do). It may or may not remove some of the NuFinish but will more than make up for any loss there with it's own protection. In other words, you will be replacing some of the NuFinish protection with the Collinite.

If having a long lasting sealant is important to you along with high gloss, try Chemical Guy's Wet Mirror Finish and top it with either CG's Pete's 53 or the Collinite. It should give you a better finish than NuFinish.

Try to find a wax without a solvent of some type. You are reading too much into it, just top it with Collinite.

Collinite, along with other automotive waxes(Carnuba)contains various solvents and/or petroleum distillates which are mixed with the natural form of Carnuba wax (which is very hard)to allow the wax to be able to be spreadable. Don't worry about using 476S, it is not a cleaner wax and it will provide an excellent long lasting top coat.
