I checked out Amsoil's site to see how much oil my cousin's Chevy 5.7L took. It says, With OOP, 6.1 qts. Without OOP, 5.1 qts. What is OOP and how do I find out if it has one? Thanks

OOP = Online Oil Port. It lets you fill the crankcase over the Internet.

Did a quick google search and came up with the well known "Optional" oil pan.
Oversized Oil Pan seems to make the most sense
My bud works at a lube joint and he said some trucks come in, where their catalog will list 5 quarts, but the vehicle reads "low" on the dipstick.....so they add an extra quart.
Really makes it complicated, cause you'd think it would match up per the VIN numbers in these newer cars, but it doesn't

The added quart would be good for extending an oil change interval. I agree with the oil pan size theory. It's the only thing that makes sense.
Why not ask Amsoil?
