I have around 8 Amsoil SDF-15 filters left in my filter stash. I am going to use these up before I go to the new EaO filters. I need to know what is the shelf life of these filters? They are in my garage storage and would like to know if there is any danger of deterioration with them. I also need to know if they are good for 10K OCI's. I am doing this now and would like to hear from some knowledgable people here if I am doing the right thing with these filters. Thanks in advance!

Open a few and see if any rust is present inside or outside. If they look good, put them inside the house,in a box with a few of those moisture removing packets. Those filters can do a 10K oci without any problems. You might want to peddle a few off on this site so you can get to the Eao filter quicker.

Thanks for the info all. I have had them about 2 to 3 years now. There is no rust at all showing. They are in my store room attached to the house so it is pretty stable in there. Never had a moisture problem at all. I am going to use them up and then switch to the EaO filters. I am changing the filter out now at 10K. I am also going to stretch my OCI's out to 10K. I have had great results doing 5K OCI's so why not try 10K with good synthetics. I just turned 106,5** miles on my truck. I am going to try to hold on to her until 300,000 miles. She is running so smooth now that I think/hope she will make it. Right now I have a mixture of PP 10w-30 and ST Synth 10w-30. I was changing my oil and decided to use up my last PP and ST. 4 quarts of PP and 2.5 of ST. The combination makes the engine run real smooth. I am going to change it out at 110,000 miles and put my SYNTEC in for the winter. Once Spring comes around again then it will be back to using up the last of the ST.

Oh, I drive 100+ miles a day. All highway!!

use them.
They are well built filters with quality components. look for exterior (significant) rust, or a "musty" odor when you sniff the core. If you do not smell/see an issue, I would be surprised that there would be an issue.

I know someone who has a new old stock (NOS) AC oil filter on his restored 1969 Z28 Camaro. Paid over $100 to get the correct dated filter (hard to find), car is appraised at $60g for insurance but likely worth a lot more.

Might not be a bad idea to shoot the base with some MP.
I've still got a few ASF filters lying around (given to me by guys who couldn't use them anymore). Some the the boxes are really bad, but the filters appear good--at least good enough to use for engine flushes!
