Question about adding oil

My 1995 buick century 3.1 v6 got a oil change with conventional 5w30 oil but was wondering if i need to add some more can i use a conventional high mileage 5w30 instead of just plain conventional?

You can add any oil pretty much( up to adequate level). Even plain old 50 weight from grandpas garage.

UMM! Modern oils mix OK, but if your Grandpa was using some weird racing oil for his model T Ford I would give it a miss!
If you are getting oil analysis done on occasions, don't mix oil types as it confuses the results and can make it harder to interpret them.

Why use High Mileage oil? Just some extra oil you have?

because i heard 5w30 high mileage is good to use considering my car has 86k miles and i have a tiny leak so i figured if i need to top uo the oil to use a high mileage 5w30 instead coventional 5w30 so i can get some additives in there?

Absolutely. That 3100 LOVES 5w30. It also loves 5W-20, and 10w30.. but yes, HM conventional is fine.

Looking at Castrol GTX High Mileage in the Green bottle? Or Maxlife in the Red?

i was thinking either pennzoil high mileage 5w30 because the other high mileage oils are part synthetic and i dont wanna go that route right now.
