No, I doubt it. If anything, a thicker oil is traditionally used to help those conditions.

1) take a picture and post up your PCV system.

2) Pull the valve cover and check the valve seals. Possibly post a pic if you can.

No amount of speculation is going to cure the condition. You're going to have to do some investigation.

Ok so as u can see the pcv valve elbow is going from the crankcase to the intake pipe but the way it came stock should be a hose goin from the crankcase to the tb but i think it still works the way it is now?

I'd pull the valve cover and make sure the oil returns are clear. A little sludge can plug the returns and force the oil down the valve stems. I had the same problem on a chevy 350. Cleaning the returns solved my smoking at idle problem.

yea im thinking i gotta checkout the crankcase ventilation system make sure nothin is clogged up cause its not loosing coolant if it was id think bad head gasket but it runs and idles fine and there are no trouble lights on in the dash.

That PCV valve doesn't seem right. It looks to be right across from the fresh air intake?

Typically, the PCV should have manifold vacuum.

I serviced a truck that had over 300k on the motor and it smoked blue pretty good you could smell the oil in the exhaust I jsut kept putting 20w50 in there and topping off and it ran along time like a champ with that....there was no money to swap or rebuild the motor and the rest of the truck wasnt in great shape so when the trans was having trouble shifting we finally put it to rest...motor and trans still ran though and they had 20w50 in the motor and a ton of lucas and transmission fluid combo to keep it going.....my point is that if you want to fix it then go ahead but if money is tight the 20w50 will prob work wonders for a long time to come. You should be good to go as long as the temps arent consistantly below 15F

well i know its not right but some said it was fine that way but i didnt think so cause it originally should be how its in the 2nd picture i posted above where it runs from the crankcase to the tb but u think that could be the reason smoke is comming out the exhaust?

well im using high mileage semi synthetic 20w-50 so its not as thick as a regular 20w50 would be but i dont think its good to use when temps are below 50f.

HM syn blend 20W-50 is every bit as "thick" as conventional, if not thicker at temp. But I wouldn't worry about it at all, the pour points of 20W-50 ain't that bad nowadays. I'd give MaxLife a try though...
