My AZ's and Advance only carry the Mothers and Meguiars for around 18 bucks. You can get them both at WM for a few dollars cheaper. When it comes to clay... eh, I haven't noticed much of a difference between the Clay Magic, Mothers, and Meguiar's. It all depends on how much lube you spray on.

This is what I do. I'll stock up on clay if I can find a deal (found some Clay Magic at Walmart on closeout a few years ago, $5.00 a box).

Clay is a niche product and I rarely see sales or special deals on it. Even the wholesalers I buy from have high prices on their clay products.

My only comparison is betw. ClayMagic and Zaino. I liked CM much better - the bar was more pliable/soft and easier to work with.

It is not an easy product to price shop.......

Everything that is retail sells it as a fancy package with lubricant and spray bottle. Can you say high cost bundle????

Still looking for a good deal. I have bought the JC Whitney stuff a couple of times. The stuff seems more like a Polymer type harder material compound. It did scratch my paint one time.

I think I want to use the softer type material.

+1

Clay Magic is one of my favorites, I prefer it to Zaino & Mothers by far.

Try shopping Autogeek.com . It's difficult to go wrong there. After the holidays watch for the BOGO page (buy one, get one) to reappear and you should find a decent deal there.

What price are you finding it at? To me, it is a good deal, because for the price of competitors' claybar, with ClayMagic you also get a bottle of detailing spray, which I find quite excellent. Too bad it's not enough to spray the entire car.

I use a lean mix of Zaino car wash. I think it's a cap full in 20 oz or something like that. Well under a dollar for enough clay bar lube to do a car. I suspect any car wash detergent/soap would do the trick.

Sure does. I use a more concentrated solution of Gold Class shampoo to make mine, but it doesn't come close to that ClayMagic spray - that one is just so slick. Plus, you get spray bottle that you can reuse. It's not the spray that makes me buy the ClayMagic of course - I just treat it as a nice freebie.

Where are you ordering the Pinnacle clay?

You guys should check out Quicknbrite. The stuff is real cheap to make a very viscous snotty kinda spray. It is very slippery.
In my mind it leaves a better film than what comes with clay bars. I have been using it with the clay for about 9 years.

The stuff can be used for lots of other cleaning uses. They advertise it on TV but pay no mind. You can also get it online. The stuff works for all kinds of stuff.

Playing the devil's advocate here....the expensive way to do it!

I use Griots Garage clay and Speedshine as the lubricant. Naturally, I would buy the SS by the gallon.

What I do like about all this is that after using the clay, you can mop the SS up with a microfiber towel and the surface is ready for the polish phase.

Saves a little time over using soap as a lubricant; with the soap you get done claying and you really need to rinse and dry the car before going to the next phase.

With the SS, the surface is clean and smooth and that really aids the PC polish phase.

My .02 which is worth, of course, nothing.

Cheers all!
