What is the difference between quakerstate horsepower and torque oil.
Any really ?
And does it really make more torque? or HP ?

And is it just me but in the clear bottle it sure seems thin.

Any difference would be minimal at best.
The difference in label is all marketing.
'Horsepower' is aimed a autos.
'Torque' is aimed at the truck, specifically pick-ups, market.
Both use the same base stocks and the same additives; slight differences in a couple of those is it.

I've noticed some of these 5w30 synthetics look really thin as well. The Petro Canada 5w30 I'm using in the Miata now was thin, and Valvoline Synpower of the same viscosity looks like water. But, they do the job so I guess that's the way they are.

I've looked at both quite a lot. The Q-HorsePower is newer label and at least for my applications meets much tougher spec's including Porsche, MB & Ferrari (5W40). The Q-Torque has been around much longer and is not spec's like the Q-HorsePower.

I suspect the Q-HP base to be Shell's XHVI (at least for 5W40) and the Q-Torque to be somewhat less.

I do not know how thin is Petro Canada oil compared to others but for sure does great job !!!

I just bought a new Infiniti (3.5L) and was considering Qukare State synthetic but decided to go with Pennzoil Platinum largely due to the positive comments it's received here.

I think synthetics tend to run "thin" in gerneral.

See my recent UOA on Quaker State Full Syn 5w30 in a 2003 Toyota Sienna with the 1MZFE V6. The 5000 mile run did well.

I'll check my records when I get home to see if I used Horse Power or Torque power. I take a photo of the new oil bottles next to the old drained oil + old filter for my records. (Because Toyota extended the warranty on these engines, and I've heard that receipts alone may not be sufficient for proving DIY oil changes..)

Just checked my records, I used Quaker State 'Torque Power' each time. So, it's anyone's guess what addpacks are different with the 'Horse Power' version of this oil.
