Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5w-30

I've run SOPUS oils for years, mostly Pennzoil synthetic with a few OCIs of Quaker State Ultimate Durability. I just stumbled across this recent analysis by PQIA and I'm impressed withQuaker State Ultimate Durability's numbers, especially the low volatility and the large shot of moly--I think it's an understated oil and great value IMHO. I currently run this in my Ram and I'll likely stay with it.

This will be my next OCI choice but I am currently using Pennzoil Gold Synthetic Blend and it has been great. The Quaker State Ultimate Durability at my local Wal-Mart is $21.97 for 5 qt jug which is billfold friendly for a top quality Oil.

I have been impressed with everything I have read about this oil. I have started using it this winter and plan to make it my staple for all of my vehicles. Great stuff at a great price.

been running it in my wife's Freestyle with a 3.0 DOHC for 70 k miles and clean reports from blackstone at 120 K miles , I have to concur it's great oil

Ran for 217,000 trouble-free miles before rust ate the Windstar back in 2013. Valve train sludge-free and zero wear. Couldn't ask for better oil.

Nice to hear this..always wanted to run this oil but have heard it doesn't keep things THAT clean...

In my current car, I've only used Platinum andQuaker State Ultimate Durability and after 2-3 oil changes of each I've settled on Quaker State Ultimate Durability. In the same grade, it just seems to run better.Quaker State Ultimate Durability apparently isn't a long OCI oil but changing every 5-6K miles like I do, that isn't a problem.

I may venture to another Wal Mart and grab a jug of the 0w20; of I don't; I'll stick with their 5w20 Quaker State Ultimate Durability for 7,500 oci's

I switched from M1 to Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5W30 when I started to learn about oil and saw the PQIA's table of synths in that weight, but I ended up switching back after I learned about LSPI issues in DIT engines and the possible contribution of calcium in oil to this problem. I'd say Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5W30 had a "normal" level of calcium while M1 was low calcium going by these 3 year old test results, so I feel safer using the M1 for now. My car was actually just recalled for an apparent LSPI problem, so I'm planning to stick with low calcium oils until I get a strong reassurance that higher calcium does not contribute to that issue in my engine.

Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5W30 had a lower NOACK than M1 and similar cold viscosity, plus it was a little cheaper at WalMart...seemed like a winner all around. TBN was a tad lower, but it seems to me like it is a quality choice for the majority of drivers and it is certainly easy to find at WM.

Didn't this oil recently have a good balance of boron and moly? Looks like they took the boron out.

I always thought it had a little Boron at one point.. I'll pass.

Maybe they took the Boron out because it looked too good next to the higher priced Pennzoil brand which is basically the same company. I truly believe there is good and bad in all oils and if one oil was truly "the Best" the company that makes it would say simply "our oil is best hands down" and no oil company says that do they?? Nope!
I always liked Quaker State Ultimate Durability but i don't like the leaky unsecured containers sofus uses

When it comes down to quality oil the old saying is Pretty much oil is oil..

I think I actually posted a thread about this on the Forester driver's online forum because I was curious about what the boron compounds were for.

I have a jug of Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5W30 sitting in my garage that I bought before I read about the potential calcium issue in DITs, keep telling the wife that I will use it to change the oil in her Avalon or she can bring it to the dealer if she goes there. She says she is worried I will ruin her car if I do the work and that it would be "rude" to bring her own oil to a change.

After my 4 free OCs at the dealer with ACDelco 5W30, the dexos1 synthetic blend, I've gone with Quaker State Ultimate Durability. The car seems as quiet as on the ACDelco and is not using any oil. When I change this July, I'll get a sample for Blackstone and see how it's doing in there.

+1.....have used Quaker State Ultimate Durability 0w20 since last August, and have about 3800 miles on the oil. Very impressed. I plan on doing an OCI at about 7500.

It makes my Focus run quieter and smoother....than the Mobil 1 0w20 that I used for several years. Its also priced lower than several top-shelf synthetics. Almost compares to PP, and has a very low NOACK.
