Quaker state oil

I bought a case of that last year in 10w30, price was right w/ rebate. I'll use anything if I can get it cheap enough. Why pay those high 1.09 prices. It's just oil, works fine, engine still runs. OCI between 3.5-5k.
Quaker State is made by the same company who makes Pennzoil, Shell, and Wolfs Head (SOPUS, based in Texas). Pennzoil is the better of the, but Quaker State isn't by any means a bad oil.

I have this weird view of Quaker State as old people oil...I know it's all my dad uses, regardless of any good deals. Gettin' pretty tired of seein green 5 quart jugs layin around the garage too..
I use QS in my wife's Expedition from time to time. Looking at the valvetrain though the oil filler hole reveals a clean engine.
I like, & will continue to use QS oil. I have a nice little stash of QS hidden in the garage.

I've used the big Q on and off for the last 15 years or so. It's, IMHO, just as good as any other dino oil out there.
Don't let the old stories of "QS turned my motor into a sludge bucket" scare you from using it. It is nothing more than a urban legend, and is simply not true.

I was interested in finding out more about the new Q synthetics line they have. it appears to be a true fully synthetic base, possibly similar to the pennz platinum, but couldn't find too much info on BITOG; besides "yeah they have a new marketing campaign".
at pep boys you can get the stuff for $2.99 after rebate on 6 quarts (ends 7/16) and then possibly the $15 mastercard to make the net purchase $2.94. i'm tempted to try some of the 10w30 Q as it is supposedly A3 rated.

I have used QS few times and it seemd to have done well.

I've been using the new QS Advanced and i have no complaints what so ever. My car was burning oil with Mobil 1 but now with the QS it stopped!

That Quaker State Truck & SUV virgin oil analysis over on the Virgin Board looks really-really good.... better than the Motorcraft under it. I think Dad's oil may be better than son's oil.

That is an excellent report. I don't see any approved oil as a bad choice used in the right application.
I've used the Quaker State High Mileage 10W-30 (in the red containers) in several vehicles I maintain but do not own (a '94 Ford "Club Wagon" van with the 351 V8, a '95 Nissan Altima, and an '87 Volvo 240 wagon), all of which have well over 100K miles on them. No problems, and I think it even took care of a weeping seal on the Nissan and somewhat reduced the consumption on the Ford Van. The Volvo didn't care one way or the other. I bought a bunch when Wal-Mart was closing out gallon jugs of this stuff awhile back for like $2.99; I haven't seen any there for awhile or I'd get some more.
I've used it for 35 years in every vehicle I've ever owned. I guess I'm one of those "old" people. Here's my story concerning sludge. I have a Corvette I bought in 1974. In 1991 I had the engine rebuilt. I stopped by the garage one day to check on things, a couple of the mechanics met me at the door asking me what kind of oil I use. They didn't believe me when I told them QS. They said my engine was the cleanest they had ever seen. That was after 17 years on QS. The shop owner spoke up and said it just proves that any oil will work if you change it regularly. I still drive that car today. 31 years on QS.
