Same as Purolator Classic.
If you have been reading here about them then you know what you are getting.

The ones that I've cut open look better inside than a Purolator Classic.

So, no... they're NOT the same.

Perhaps posted in the wrong forum, but right now I think they are on sale for $1.99. I've used dozens of them and have never had a failure. Unlike a few Purolator filters, I've yet to see anybody else here post a QS failure, so until I see one, I'll run them on certain vehicles of mine.

They (usually) do not have the metal crimped seam, allowing more flexibility, and seem to be less likely to tear than the Classic. ADBV is not the greatest, in horizontal applications they don't last long.

There was a guy on here before I can't remember the handle, who had cut and posted a bunch of the QS filters with good results. Then he got a few later that failed which he also posted and said he could no longer recommend them.

I think they are probably fine for the typical shorter 3k ish OCI's for which they most likely will be used. If you have any concerns simply avoid the most frequent offenders on Puro's part numbers that should help.

He posted a bunch I will see if a search will bring anything up.

I haven't seen a documented/reported failure , of anyone using the Quaker State oil filters.
If there was a Menards close to me , I'd be using them.

Get them for $1.99 on sale.

Its a $2 filter. It will filter, and it costs two bucks. What more do you wanna know?

Will it survive the recent trend of 20k mile oil changes and such? no
Will it filter oil? Yes
Will it work for normal 3-5k mile intervals? yes

Theres an old saying, use the right tool for the job. Screwdrivers are not prybars, and you do not show up at the construction site with a drill bought at IKEA.

Dont expect this thing to do the job of a long-life oil filter, expect it to do the job of a normal standard duty oil filter.

Buy a premium filter made by Wix or maybe a fram ultra and go 2 oci's with a quality filter. Or buy a junk oil filter and keep your fingers crossed.

Lotsa luck to the OP.

Don't quit your day job. You're not funny, nor are you being helpful.

Made by Purolator and look similar to the classic. Made with synthetic blended media too. They seem to have thicker cans?

Aside from the ADBV's short life span, the main thing I don't like about them is that they are small. The spec'd filter for my Jeep is the size of the Fram 3614. Their version of the Fram 8A is the size of the 3600. Same filter bypass/ thread wise and will do the job just fine.. just an OCD thing on my behalf. I'd try it for 5k and cut it open.

Confirming that they are made by Purolator, if you go to the Quaker State Oil Filters Page and click on the "Oil Filter Selector" link, it takes you to http://qs.pureoil.com/ which is the Purlator's domain.

Also, that page notes a toll free number (800-526-4250) to the "Technical Oil Filter Hotline". When you call that number, the recording states that you've reached the "Mann-Hummel Purolator Filters LLC's Filter Hotline".

For $1.99, I think I'm going to pick one up my girlfriend's 2013 Hyundai Elantra when I'm at Menard's getting the Quaker State Ultimate Durability that's on sale and has rebates. (See this thread if you aren't aware of that.) But I'm hesitant to use them on my Caddy.
