Looks like 3 oil changes in 150,000 kilometers using conventional oil. That is no fault of Quaker state or any other oil. Seems like neglect.

For your sake, I hope you posted this facetiously.

Don't use it? For what? Shaving, hand lotion because if you are actually implying that that YouTube video is the fault of the oil you've lost your mind.
There are countless used oil analysis' posted on this site that prove its a very high quality product, and can usually be found inexpensively if you catch it on sale.
That engine may have used Quaker state oil at one time 100000 miles ago and someone should have mentioned to the owner that it needs to be changed once in a while.
This is a troll post if I've ever seen one.
Are you sure you aren't skyship under a pseudonym trying to push that this engine just needed a thicker grade?

"I saw it on the Internet so it must be true!"

It's sad that the 'information age' has made people very stupid, and unfortunate that it gives them a way to spread it.

I love how one sludged engine, with no mention of maintenance schedule or any other information, is "proof" that QS oil is junk. It's like saying I know a guy who ate egg and lettuce sandwiches, and he died of a heart attack age 45. Proof that stuff will kill you!

Look how bad those rocker arms are.

A CLASSIC example of "Internet Amplification"!!!

A few years back you would never have known of this highly individual problem and it's ridiculous to indict an oil company for one isolated incident.

Most here know better.

Must be someone from here, posted recently

I'm left speechless that anyone would really consider that video, with it's unfounded conclusions and lack of research, informative.

This thread would be more appropriate under the Humor section of the forum.

If u eat 10 lbs of red, blue and green Christmas papers each day, you will develop a stomach ailment in 20 years. Don't eat these colored papers.

How many cars really use just one brand of oil throughout their entire lifetimes? Not many I'd wager, particularly for a vehicle not being maintained by a do-it-yourselfer. But every time one of these "xxxxxx causes sludge" stories comes up, its always a "lifetime" of xxxxxx oil. Every time. No other brands.

Sorry, not buyin' it.

I know you Bitogers know , But it bears repeating. IF Quaker State was [censored] like this bonehead and some other folks say, don't ya think it would have been out of business by now?

It is a bitoger. That would be me.
Google away

I knew if I went that far on the forum here I'd get a vacation so once I heard what he said I couldn't help myself.
The member who posted this thread has another one going saying he is suing sopus because the firm handling the rebates denied his rebate application. So he is suing for 2040 dollars. 40 for the rebate and 2000 in punitive damages.
I think he was being serious too. I figured he got denied because he filled out the form incorrectly but now that I have seen all this today it is likely far deeper than that.

Hehehe. K. I stand corrected.

Check out his other videos. The guy is a mechanic of sorts. But then he clouds the issue by posting about a dozen videos with the title "drunk mechanic", and a couple other videos of running the engine with no oil until it blows up. Not the guy I'd want to take a car to.
