Hi i dont put out much questions but was wondering about the Quaker State dino Noack Volatility numbers for 5w20 and 5w30. The 5w20 has 14.1 and 5w30 has 14.3 compared to Pennzoil Conventional 5w20 14.7 and 5w30 14.5..I like them both but dose it matter or is one better than the other with those Noack numbers..thanks

Ok thank you and good to know.I got a good deal on Quaker State that was on sale and doing a oil change tommorow.Its been a while i used Quaker State since using Pennzoil for two cars for a long time and its a addiction lol but change is good though..thanks again guys appreciate it

good sir, i believe sopus owns both Pennzoil and quaker state. so im betting both are very similar to each other.

That may not be the case. In the past Quaker State has used Ornite VI's and additive packages for Quaker State products.
Where in the past Pennzoil has used a VI packages from Shell and whatever individual additives bought from Lubrizoil, Ethyl, and Ornite that made the best formulation possible. Shell/Pennzoil has traditionally spent considerable resources in maintaining Pennzoil as the flagship brand of SOPUS.
If this is still the case someone would have to contact Shell and see if Shell still wants to make this information public.

Quaker State 5w20 conventional is what I use I my ford edge. It has 100,000 km with no issues so far.
Nothing wrong with QS, lots of positive reports as above, but it's quite dissimilar from its Pennzoil conventional sibling. Slightly higher HTHS, lower VI and a boron heavy add pack as opposed to Pennzoil conventional's high moly brew.
Based on price point I'd suspect some lower base stocks too but that we'll never know.

Thanks again guys.Im just getting ready for the cold months a head.I guess there is not much difference between Quaker State and Pennzoil on the data sheets.Like i said before i like them both and its part of the SOPUS group and no worries hear.Just being picky i guess and the Quaker State was on sale so i couldnt pass that up..i just read whats in the oils on their data sheets thats all, to try to understand who has what..other than that good choice
Don't fret. Quaker State is fine, and I've used plenty of it, and will continue to do so, even in Saskatchewan winters.
